Issue 7: Cultivating & Nurturing Connections

It's February already! Is 2024 going fast or slow for you? Somewhere in between? We can't tell.

As Valentine's Day approaches, we're reflecting on the true essence of this holiday. When we think of Valentine's Day, we usually picture flowers, chocolates, and those big romantic gestures. But if you're not in the lovey-dovey loop, it's pretty easy to brush off the whole thing. We believe there is something even more profound to celebrate – let's dive in!

Cultivating & Nurturing Connections

Whether you enjoy big flashy displays of love or you're more into low key, let's honor it all – from the connections we share to the effort we put into cultivating and nurturing them!

You might hear a lot about self-love during this season, and even though we are all about showing yourself the care you need, this issue's focus is more about how you connect to others and surround yourself with people who inspire you to grow, learn, and connect.

Zoom in on the people around you — your friends, coworkers, partner, community, and family. When we have good people in our life, it is what can truly enrich our lives.

As our lives evolve and our responsibilities expand, maintaining meaningful connections becomes a journey of quality over quantity. Choosing wisely who we invest our time in matters. It's important to nurture friendships that are supportive, uplifting, and often feel effortless. Amidst our busy schedules, the value of simply being there, listening intently, and dedicating time to the connections that resonate deeply with us cannot be overstated.

In the hustle of everyday life, the simple joys of a heart-to-heart over coffee, a thoughtful gesture, or shared full belly laughs remind us of the beautiful impact of our most cherished relationships.

How do you show up for the people in your life?

It could be as simple as celebrating wins, providing a shoulder to lean on, expressing gratitude, listening, or sharing a project together – any small gesture or activity that helps to nurture your relationships with others. Those little things are what build strong connections that last.

Together, let's make this Valentine's Day a tribute to the beautiful relationships that shape our journey.

3 Journal Prompts to Foster Connections with Others

  1. ✎ What qualities do I value in my friends and relationships?
  2. ✎ How would my family/partner/best friends describe me?
  3. ✎ Think about a time when you felt truly supported by a friend. What did they do that made you feel seen and valued? How can you reciprocate and provide similar support to others in your circle?

Rituals & Habits

For showing up, creating connections, and sending love to your friends...

  • 💌 Write love letters to your friends. Ever thought about writing love letters to your friends?
  • 🌌 Keep a list of people you want to get to know better or prioritize time with. It sounds really Type-A, but it helps hold you accountable to nurturing the relationships you care about!
  • 👩🏽‍🍳 Cook a nice, warm meal and host your favorite people! There's something magical about sharing a meal you made with love.
  • 🧘🏽‍♀️ Book a yoga or workout class and go with a friend. Sweating it out together not only makes you feel good, but it's also a great way to bond.
  • ♟ Virtual Game Night: For those friends who are miles away, organize a virtual game night. There are tons of online games, from trivia to Pictionary, that can keep the laughter flowing, even through the screen.

Remember, Valentine's Day isn't just about romantic love — it's about celebrating all kinds of connections!
